Peak Freaks "I think there's an element of wishful thinking and that some Peak Oil adherents are looking for a deus ex machina to sweep away the disaster that is contemporary industrial civilization -- and understandably so. Waiting for Peak Oil is so convenient, so much simpler, and so much more seductive than the hard work of organizing for social and ecological change." -- Economist Charles Komanoff in Peak Freaks, my dispatch from the front lines of the Peak Oil movement, published this week on Freezerbox.

I posted my more indepth thoughts over at TOD:NYC (http://www.nyc.theoildrum.com). In general I thought it was about time to start calling a spade a spade with some of the loony fringes of the Peak Oil aware community, but I just hope that someone new to the concept does not just take-away that PO is just another fantasy the way that many other conspiracies theories are. I know that was not your intent, but it's a risk. Still, great job.
